We nearly had a full house on Tuesday – that is one of my goals for 2019 so keep it up!

Marc dragged himself to the front for his Eco Lighting presentation: “I’ve prepared nowt” he moaned; “I’m fed up with showing you our video” he whinged; “You’ve heard it all before” etc he sighed – and then proceeded to electrify us all with 3 lines on a flipchart and the amazing stats about HM Government’s commitment to reduce carbon emissions by 100% by 2050! I’ve often praised Karen for the sheer enthusiasm she brings to telling us about bookkeeping – Marc was equally passionate about the “quick fix” that Eco Lighting can bring to the table – and “the money is already being spent” by businesses “it does not need finding.” We need to keep giving Marc referrals….. not for his business but for the planet!

We welcomed back Karim from visiting his aged dad in Karachi – by giving him the speaker slot next week. Karim is another member who is totally passionate about his ‘life’s purpose’ to improve our wellbeing – one keyboard at a time. I look forward to his presentation.

Last night I watched a programme I’d recorded some weeks ago about Chris Hoy, the multi gold medal winning cyclist. He was learning to drive a racing car with the goal of racing in the Le Mans 24 hours. Sports folk often quote ‘philosophical’ stuff and he was no different when he said “winners never quit and quitters never win”. But then he amplified this: during the constant training he did while cycling, the coach always told them that their legs were [obviously] their most important asset and should be looked after at all times. “Don’t stand when you can sit, don’t sit when you can lie down” was the team mantra. Somewhere there’s a message we could all take away from that – I confess I’m not totally sure what it is! Tell me Tuesday!!
